Mayor’s art program accepting applications
Goodyear, Ariz. (Sept. 24, 2018) – Back for its fifth year, Goodyear’s Mayor Select Art program is looking for local junior high and high school students to submit their works of art for a chance to win scholarship dollars.
“It amazes me the amount of artistic talent we have in our youth,” said Mayor Georgia Lord. “The arts are such an important part of our community, and I am delighted to help these young men and women get the recognition they deserve.”
In the high school division, winners will be selected from three categories: drawing/painting; photography/digital arts; and 3D/mixed media. Each runner-up will receive $100; each 1st Place $200; and Best of Show receives $500. For junior high students, the 1st Place winner receives $150, 2nd Place receives $100, and 3rd Place is $50.
To be eligible, students must reside in Goodyear and be enrolled in grades 6th through 12th. Entry deadline is Oct. 30.
A special ‘thank you!’ to the program’s sponsor – Palm Valley Pediatric Dentistry.
