City recognizes volunteers at annual dinner

Post Date:04/05/2018 4:35 PM

Goodyear, Ariz. (April 5, 2018) – Hundreds of volunteers with the city of Goodyear attended an annual dinner as a “Thank You!” from city officials at last night’s banquet in PebbleCreek.

“I don’t know what we’d do without the generosity of all of these caring individuals,” said Mayor Georgia Lord. “They give their time and energy just to be able to contribute to the community, and ask for nothing in return. They truly are the gems of the city.”

In 2017, more than 1,000 volunteers contributed almost 33,000 hours of their time in nearly every city department – from Police and Fire, to boards and the ballpark. This equates to over $780,000 in added value to the city.

During the ceremony, dozens of volunteers were recognized with awards in several categories.
